Why do I have to put a link to the shop on my website?
Short answer: It is what you give back for the shop being free. Hosting an unused shop costs DAGOBA money, and a robot regularly checks that those links are there: a long absence can trigger the deletion of the shop.
The reason
The shop is free and stays free. What costs DAGOBA money is shops that are built and then left abandoned: they take up hosting without anyone visiting them.
Permanent links settle both sides of the problem. They bring your community to the shop, and they show DAGOBA that your organisation is using it.
How the check works
A robot regularly visits the main menu of your website and the header of your social media. If it cannot find those links over an extended period, it reads the shop as abandoned by your organisation, and may trigger its deletion on its own.
The deletion is automatic and does not ask for prior agreement. If you rebuild your website, put the link back in the new menu.
