Can I use my own domain name?

Short answer: Yes, shop.your-domain.com for instance. Two steps: at your host, a CNAME DNS record pointing to our servers; then, in the dashboard, the “Use my own web address” link under the shop's address, and the “Test” button. The https certificate is generated automatically.

Steps

On the “Shops” page, open a draft of the shop, then click the “Use my own web address” link under the shop's address. The “Custom web address (URL)” window opens and shows the exact address to point to.
At your host, create a CNAME DNS record making your subdomain — shop, for instance — point to that address.
In the dashboard, type your custom address and click “Test”. DAGOBA checks that your domain really points to our servers.
Save. The free SSL certificate is generated automatically so that the shop answers in https.

If those terms mean nothing to you

It is a few minutes' work for your host or whoever looks after your website. Pass them the target address shown in the dashboard: it is the only thing they need.

The dagoba.shop address keeps working. The custom address is added, it does not replace it.

Once the address is in place the link becomes “Remove my own web address”: it goes back to the dagoba.shop address alone, breaking nothing.

The link is inactive while the shop is still called “Shop title” — hovering it shows a tooltip reading “Change the shop title first”. It is the same lock as on the subdomain.

Why do it

An address in your own name reassures: the buyer stays with you. The https padlock and a domain they recognize are what tell an official shop apart from a link people distrust.
