How do I set my shop's address?
Short answer: On a draft, click the address and type a short subdomain, in words and hyphens, with no accents and no spaces. Be sure to remove the
-demo-NNN ending given automatically to the demo shop.Steps
- On the “Shops” page, open a draft of the shop.
- Click the shop's address to edit it.
- Type a short, memorable subdomain, made of words and hyphens — no accents, no spaces, no special characters.
- Save, then put the draft into service.
The shop is hosted on a
dagoba.shop subdomain: https://organisation-name.dagoba.shop, where you choose what comes first.Remove the -demo-NNN ending
When the demo shop is generated, the system builds a unique address from the organisation's name and adds a
-demo-NNN ending. It is a temporary subdomain, not an address to publish. Remove at least that ending before putting the shop into service.
If the address is refused
- “This subdomain is already used by another shop.” — the address is taken, choose another.
- “This subdomain is not available.” — it is one of the reserved addresses.
- “Change the shop title first” — the address is locked while the shop is still called “Shop title”. See How do I change my shop's name and subtitle.
Choosing it well
The address goes on your posters, in your emails and in your posts. Take the name your community knows you by, with no year and no number: a dated address has to be redone, and an address already printed cannot be.
Going further
You'll know it worked when: The live shop's address is short, readable, free of
demo and digits, and opens in the browser.
