I am asked for my current password and I do not have one?
Short answer: If you have never had a password, the page does not ask for one: it shows You can set a password and only wants the new one, typed twice.
Two headings, two situations
- You can set a password — you have never had one. Two fields only: the password and its confirmation.
- You can change your password — you already have one. A third field, Current password, appears and becomes mandatory.
The heading on screen tells you which case you are in, with nothing to look up.
Why some accounts have no password
You can open your account without ever choosing one: through the login link sent by email, or through the Google button on the login page. The same goes for admins who came in through an invitation link.
Setting one takes nothing away
The email login link and the Google button keep working afterwards. A password is one more way in, not a replacement.
