What does “Email verified” mean?
Short answer: Verification tests whether an address is able to receive email, without sending anything to it. Three possible results: not verified, verified and deliverable, or failed.
The three states
| What the icon says | What it means | What you can do |

| Email not verified | The address has never been tested. This is the starting state. | Run the verification if the doubt bothers you. |
| Email verified – deliverable | The address exists and accepts mail. | Nothing. |
| Email verification failed | The address was tested and does not accept mail: a typo, a closed mailbox, a domain that does not exist. | Correct the address on the profile, or ask the person for the right one. |
How to run the verification
On a profile, the icon to the right of the address tests it straight away (Verify email with debounce).
For a whole list: tick the contacts, then Verify emails in the orange bar. The verification runs in the background and the results land on the profiles as they come in.
Verifying sends no message to the person: it is a technical test of the address.
