Why is the “Send Email” button disabled?
Short answer: Four possible causes. Hover the disabled button: its tooltip names yours. Early on, the most common one is the five-recipient threshold, which requires your account to have had a delivered order.
Cause 1 — your account has not been saved yet
The tooltip reads: “Save your account to use this feature”.
A shop built as a demonstration belongs to an anonymous account, which is deleted after a few days. The “Save this account” banner on the dashboard opens the form: only your email address is required — the name and the password stay optional and can be set later.
You then get a confirmation email: clicking its link is what saves the account, and sending opens up at that point.
Cause 2 — you do not have the Promotions role
The tooltip reads: “Bulk emails are restricted to owners and users with the Promotions role. You can still email one contact at a time.”
This block fires from two recipients onwards. Another user who is an owner of the account can grant you the Promotions role from the Admins page. In the meantime, sending to a single contact from their detail sheet still works.
Cause 3 — more than five recipients before your first delivered order
The tooltip reads: “Your account must have already received an order, and that order must have been delivered, to use the emailing feature”.
Two things the tooltip does not say:
- Five recipients or fewer always go through, from day one. The check only applies to wider sends.
- The order has to be at the “Delivered” status — meaning collected by its buyer, not merely dropped off — for at least five days. An order delivered yesterday does not unlock wide sending yet.
Why this condition exists
Two reasons, and they work together.
Stopping the platform from being used to send junk mail. A DAGOBA account opens freely, on your own, at no cost: without a condition, anyone could create one and use our servers as a mass-mailing tool. An order that was genuinely delivered simply shows there is an active organisation behind the account.
Making sure our products suit you. A first delivered order means you have had the products and the markings in your hands. We would rather that were the case before you invite your whole community to order.
Cause 4 — the selection exceeds your quota
The tooltip gives the exact figures: “This selection exceeds your sending quota: {count} recipients, {remaining} left in the period. Open "Organisation" to request an increase.”
Reduce the number of contacts in your selection, wait for the rolling period to free up, or request a free increase. The detail is in How many emails can I send.

- Deposited or Delivered — what is the difference — the status that counts for the five-recipient threshold.
