How do I import my contacts from a file?
Short answer: The Import button opens a three-step screen: you pick your file, you say what each column holds, you confirm consent, and the import runs.
Steps
- Open Contacts, then click Import at the top right.
- Click Choose a file and pick your CSV or XLSX file.
- The next screen lists the columns it found. For each one, choose the matching field: Ignore, Email, First name, Last name or Tag. The Email field is required.
- If the first row of your file is data rather than titles, untick First row contains column titles.
- Tick I confirm these contacts agreed to be contacted.
- Click Import, then Done once the result is shown.
You'll know it worked when: The last screen states how many contacts were created, merged and skipped, and the new contacts appear in the list.
Reading the result
The last screen gives three numbers: contacts created, contacts merged into a profile that already existed, and rows skipped. It also says how many tags were created along the way, and details each skipped row with its number.
The import runs in one go. Until you click Import, nothing is written: you can go back or close the window with no consequence.
